Corruption of Heart Ch 14
Unleashed

(Rundas' POV)

Over the last few days I had been staying on Norion. It was different for me to remain on this planet for long amounts of time, but this was not a large leap from my normal living situation. I had no real home after all, other then Phrygis, of course. But I rarely went back there any longer. And because my job required me to constantly move from one world to the next, it became second nature to live anywhere my job took me. However, this time it was not work that was keeping me here...
The reason I was here was Samus Aran. Recently it had been reveled to us all that Dark Samus was living within her body, right under our noses. I found it disgusting that he would dare to do such a thing... But I despised myself even more for not believing Samus when she tried to tell me about this on Bryyo...
I usually preferred to work and live alone. I wasn't quite sure why, but it had always been like that for me. The one exception that I had ever made to that was Samus. She was the only one that I would work with without protest; I trusted her. Maybe that is the reason why I was so concerned for her wellbeing. Or perhaps it was because of the guilt I felt over my past mistakes... But, whatever the reason, I decided to remain on Norion for Samus' sake. I had made that my mission.
I hadn't seen or heard of her for a while now... Nor had Ghor or Gandrayda. I had been a signed to guard her for a day almost a week ago, but that was the last I had seen her... And I was beginning to worry.
Despite my requests, the federation kept telling me the same thing: "We have it under control, Samus is fine; there is no need for your assistance." They had continually refused to give any information about her condition, or even tell me, or any of the other hunters, when the vaccine would be administered... It felt like the federation was keeping secrets from me, and I didn't like it...
Some time ago I had decided to take a walk to clear my head; there were to many annoying, persistent thoughts that were coming to mind. I had been walking for some time now; I was nearly 4 miles outside the base.
"Why won't this end?" I asked myself, my mind still devoid of peace.
Then, in a split second the calmness of this place left me. A sonic boom thrust through the air, making an incredibly large noise that shook me to me to my core. Then I noticed something, it wasn't me that was vibrating; it was the ground! Suddenly a memory returned to me. This was the exact feeling that I had felt on Bryyo.
"Another explosion" I said to myself.
Without hesitation, I leapt into the air and jetted into flight. It wasn't difficult to find where the blast came from. A huge cloud of smoke rose into the air from where the explosion originated. It was the base. I rushed there as quickly as I could.
In a matter of minutes I arrived over the base. As I flew overhead I saw Gandrayda and Ghor, already inside his mech, standing before a section of the base. Or rather, what was left of it... The explosion had demolished the side of the base that they were standing before. It was nothing but a pile of rubble lying in a wrecked line across the ground. Beyond it you could see inside of every floor from which the wall had broken free. You could only see a few feet into the base though. The inside of it apparently had lost power; none of the lighting was functioning.
I landed beside Ghor and Gandrayda.
"Ghor, Gandrayda!" I said as I landed "What the hell happened?"
"Don't know" Gandrayda answered in her usual tone.
"Where's Samus?" I immediately asked.
"I'm sure that she's fine" Ghor said "The Norion base made her safety top priority; by now she probably been move from the base..."
Suddenly our thoughts were cut short. We heard something coming from within the base. Screaming... Someone or something was screaming from within the base; it sounded like it was from multiple people. But what was troubling wasn't the screaming itself; it seemed like the noise was growing weaker as whom ever made it was coming closer... In other words, as the group was moving, something was preventing members of the group from calling out... Something was quieting them.
"That's not good" I said.
Suddenly something burst into view. The screaming we had heard was from several marines. They were fleeing from the base. One of them suddenly stopped and turned around as the other two ran past him, and shot into the darkness that they had emerged from. Reacting to the situation, we attempted to come to their aid. But then, without warning, three shots were fired from within the darkness, and all of them were gunned down in an instant. They crashed to the ground, dead before they hit it.
Instantly, we stopped, and put up our guard. All we could do was watch as their bodies hit the ground. Then, as they struck the earth, their bodies disappeared... The struck the ground and burst into dust that mingled and flowed in the wind before leaving completely.
"W-what is this?" Gandrayda asked shocked at what had occurred,
"Oh no..." Ghor said.
"Ghor, you know something about this?" I asked.
"...In Skytown, before I was overcome by corruption, I saw the same thing occur to pirate troopers" He said "So much as a touch and their bodies disintegrated into dust"
"What caused it?" Gandrayda asked.
"...Metroids" Ghor said "The pirates that I spoke of were the prey of the metroids that were contained in Skytown... It was because of the close proximity to the concentrated phazon the metroids carried within their bodies that weakened them"
As I was listening to Ghor's explanation, I suddenly felt something odd... I always could tell when something bad was about to happen; it was a sixth sense I had achieved from my years as a hunter. Ghor and Gandrayda continued to speak, but I ignored what they were saying. This feeling had captured my complete attention.
I couldn't tell from who, or what, this feeling stemmed from; all I could tell was I didn't like it... The feeling was oppressive and forceful. It felt as if I was being challenged by something without a face. I quickly developed a disgust for this new presence... I hadn't felt something like this for a long time...
Suddenly I noticed movement in the blackened hallway that the solders were running from.
"Guys..." I said, motioning toward the darkness.
Quickly Ghor and Gandrayda stopped talking, and looked into the darkness along with me. We spoke to each other without looking away from the darkness.
"Ghor, can you tell what it is?" I asked.
Immediately, Ghor used his abilities to analyze the figure.
"There appears to be only one..." He said "From infrared and x-ray, it looks human..."
"My instincts say different" I responded "Get ready, it's coming"
We watched intently as the shadowed figure grew closer and closer to us. All three of us took up defensive stances, ready to strike as soon as we could see its face. Soon it was at the end of the hallway.
Light streamed over the figure as it exited the destroyed building. It stopped walking after it caught sight of us, just outside of the hallway it came from. None of us could believe what we were seeing.
"Samus..."
There, before the three of us, stood the one person that was missing from our group; there was Samus. She was dressed in her zero suit, and didn't have her hair held up in a ponytail, it simply draped down over her back and shoulders. I looked at Samus, and for a moment I was glad. I was glad to see her, and relieved that she was all right. But then I noticed something... There was something awry about her...
The sensation that she gave off was not normal; it was completely different from the Samus I recognized... I couldn't understand why, but there was something about her that made me feel as if I wasn't looking at the same person... The feeling that emanated from her was foul and forsaken... Then suddenly I realized something. This was the same feeling I had felt before... It was then that I became sure of something, and no matter how much I didn't want to accept it, I knew it was true... The person standing before me was not Samus.
"Who are you!?" I yelled.
"Rundas, what are you saying?" Gandrayda asked, shocked at my question "It's Samus!"
I ignored her, positive of my suspicions.
"Answer me" I demanded "Who the hell are you!?"
Her reaction was simply a smile.
"What are you talking about?" She suddenly answered like nothing had happened "It's just like she said; I'm Samus..."
"You are not Samus!" I yelled, my instincts talking for me "Samus wouldn't do this! She doesn't have the seething look in her eyes that you do..."
"Rundas what are you talking about?" Ghor asked "What did you mean by 'she wouldn't do this'?"
"She's the one who shot down those troopers..." I said grimly.
"Impossible!" Gandrayda said.
"Ghor, didn't you say that there was only one person in the hall they were running from?" I asked.
Ghor and Gandrayda remained silent, trying to comprehend what I had just stated. Samus let out a sigh, and then spoke.
"What a pain... I was hoping that you wouldn't pick it up on it so quickly..." She suddenly said as if disappointed, her smile fading into a look of boredom "I suppose I'll confirm what your thinking then, Rundas..."
She nonchalantly raised her arm, and held her fingers apart, directing her arm at us.
"Here's your warning..." She suddenly said with a grim tone.
Immediately I knew what was coming.
"GET DOWN!" I yelled jumping away.
But it was too late. A huge blast of energy formed at Samus' fingers, and fired directly at us. All of us barely managed to maneuver out of the attack's range, receiving a fair amount of damage in the process. A huge cloud of dust and smoke bloomed at the point it hit, covering the entire area in a dense murk that made it impossible to see anything. Realizing that I was unharmed, I called out.
"Ghor, Gandrayda, are you okay!?" I yelled "Where are you?"
"I'm okay!" Gandrayda answered "I can't see, but I'm okay!"
"Where is Samus!?" Ghor called.
"That wasn't Samus!" I yelled blindly through the murk "It was Dark Samus!"
"You catch on quick" a familiar voice suddenly said from behind me.
Quickly, I whirled around to meet the voice. Then, before I could do anything to stop it, an incredibly powerful punch landed square in my face, sending me flying backward at and incredible speed. Only moments after I was struck, I impacted something hard and heavy. But it didn't stop me. The object was simply blown away with me at nearly equal speed. Then the object and I emerged from the fog; it streamed off of us as we tumbled to a stop. The thing I had hit impacted a tree, stopping its momentum, and then I collided with it again, finally ending my flight.
I quickly got up. I winced as the pain created from my trip made itself apparent. I looked back to see that the object I had impacted moments ago was Ghor. He got up and immediately responded after seeing it was me.
"What the hell was that!?" he asked, shocked at the power that sent him and me flying back.
Suddenly, something flew from the cloud and impacted the ground at our feet, tumbling to a stop. To our horror, it was Gandrayda. Quickly she got up, holding her side; she was breathing very heavily.
"Are you-" I began to ask.
"I'm fine" She said in a serous tone that was rarely seen in her.
"Pathetic..." A voice called in a dissatisfied tone.
A gust of wind kicked up, blowing the murk away, and reviling Samus standing within the dissipating cloud.
"I'm starting to wonder if anything here is worth my time"
We all silently stared at our fallen comrade. All of our rage's collectively growing. She suddenly chuckled.
"Come on, I want this to be fun" She suddenly said, an evil smile creping across her face again.
She held of both of her arms outward as energy began to swirl at her fingertips.
"I want to see the terrified, betrayed look on your faces when you fall by Samus' hands!" She yelled.
She suddenly aimed at us and fired. Two enormous blasts of phazon plunged directly for us. Now being serious about this, all of us jumped out of the way. The beam ended, and Samus had disappeared. Suddenly a shadow washed over top me. I quickly looked up to see Samus flying through the air. A blue ghostly trail of phazon followed her as she flew.
"That does it!" Ghor suddenly yelled, arming his mech's weaponry "I'm going to send you back to the grotesque pool of phazon from whence you came!"
Suddenly multiple missiles launched from Ghor's mech, and shot through the air directly at Samus. They impacted in an instant, leaving a huge cloud of smoke lying in mid-air. Suddenly something shot threw the cloud directly at Ghor. It impacted him, knocking him to the ground. It was Samus. She seemed completely unharmed; the only part of her that seemed even slightly injured was her zero suit, which had been ripped, leaving some of her stomach and left shoulder exposed.
She triumphantly stood over Ghor's overturned mech, and brought her right arm back, and charged it for an attack; ready to plunge into Ghor and kill him.
"I'm not going anywhere..." She suddenly said in a tone that bordered insanity "I like it here!"
Suddenly Gandrayda took action. She morphed into a Berserker Lord and rushed at Samus, thrusting a punch directly at her. Then, as it contacted her, it simply stopped. Gandrayda let out a grunt of surprised. Samus had turned around, and caught the punch as if it was nothing!
Then, Dark Samus countered. She grabbed Gandrayda's arm with both hands and threw her over her head, as if the weight of the form Gandrayda had taken had required no effort to lift! She impacted the ground headfirst. The weight of her form then worked turned against her, causing her great injury. She immediately returned to her normal form, but found that she couldn't move. Stunned, Gandrayda lay on the ground; her body twitched from the shock of the impact.
Then, with a single jump, Samus landed in front of her, and then she became the focus of Dark Samus' attention. Before Gandrayda regained her composure, Samus wrapped her hands around Gandrayda's neck and lifted her off the ground. She suddenly slammed Gandrayda back against a tree that was no more then a foot behind them, holding her to it several feet off the ground by her neck, strangling her.
"I guess you want to die first" Samus said, her voice now completely replaced with Dark Samus'.
I suddenly lashed out, sending a huge blast of ice directly for Samus. Gandrayda used this chance to escape. She quickly drew both her legs in close to her body, and kicked Samus with all her strength directly into my attack. The force of the kick allowed Gandrayda to wrench herself free, and jump away before the attack impacted. Samus, however, took the full brunt of it. She held her arms before her in an effort to guard against it, and then my attack impacted.
Instantly a huge cocoon of ice crystallized around Samus, freezing her in place. Immediately afterward I piled on shot after shot, each time adding more and more ice to the already thickened prison. After I was done, the ice around Samus was nearly 9 feet thick.
This attack was not meant to kill Samus; it was meant to imprison her. I had no real intention of causing her harm; even if she was being paraded around by Dark Samus like a puppet. Just doing this to her made me feel like I was betraying her. But fortunately it seemed to have worked. After the freezing mist created by my attack cleared away, I looked back into the glass-like structure to see Samus' body frozen within it.
"You really think that'll hold them?" Gandrayda asked returning to Ghor's side, still breathing heavily.
After catching our breath, all of us looked into the ice at our comrade. I could easily tell that all of us were worried about this; it was unmistakably imprinted on all of our faces. Then in a mere second, all of our relief was crushed. Samus suddenly disappeared from within the ice!
"It was a duplicate!" Ghor yelled.
Then instantly after he said that, something befell that struck sheer horror into our hearts. A blast of energy cleaved into Ghor's mech, cutting threw him like a knife through butter. Broken and mangled pieces of Ghor's mech shot away from the point it was blasted in a rain of wreckage.
"Ghor!" Gandrayda and I yelled at once.
Ghor crashed to the ground, in a sparking heap of wrecked and ruined machinery, as his mech broke apart even further as its own weight caused it to collapse. He lye there, silent, in a smoking, demolished pile of unrecognizable debris; sparks flew from his mech in every direction. Gandrayda quickly ran to him.
"Gandrayda, wait!" I yelled.
Then suddenly a second blast shot directly for her. She saw it and sidestepped, dodging the attack. But then she realized it was a ploy. Samus, completely unharmed, came out of hiding and bound toward Gandrayda, a phazon charged punch already prepared. The punch landed strait in her stomach. Gandrayda flew back with amazing speed. She impacted a tree, however, it didn't stop her. She crashed through the tree, blasting it away as she plowed threw it.
"Gandrayda!" I yelled, watching her bound farther and farther away.
I turned back and faced Dark Samus.
"Samus! " I yelled "Get a hold of yourself!"
She suddenly looked over at me, a grin reeling across her face.
"You don't get it do you?"  She suddenly said "Samus is gone"
"You're lying!" I yelled.
"Whether you want to accept it or not, I now rule this body" She said with a smile "And I have the federation to thank for that..."
"What!?" I yelled, confused and angry.
"If those diluted fools hadn't gone ahead with administering that vaccine, I wouldn't have been able to take total control of Samus' body for months... Perhaps even longer"
"The vaccine!?"
"Yes..." She said slyly "You weren't told were you?"
I remained silent as my rage built even more.
"The vaccine was meant to draw me out, and that's exactly what it did..." She said "It brought my power to the surface by giving me the advantage over that woman. In other words, that vaccine removed Samus, not me... It essentially handed her body to me, and the federation wasn't prepared to contain me properly... That's why I allowed it to take place without so much as a nightmare to warn her"
"You bastard..." I said angrily.
An insanely furious look filled my face. I was now unsure if I was more furious toward Dark Samus or the federation.
"If only you could have heard her..." She said "The screams and cries she made as the vaccine took effect was the most elating moment I've had since I invaded her life... Even now she continues to cry out... I can hear her so clearly..."
I uttered a low growl.
"I can still hear her calling out to you; 'forget about me, and run! Before its too late'" She said mockingly "She keeps calling even though she knows she can't reach you... It's so comedic"
My anger reached its peak, and without thinking I lashed out. I dashed at Samus' body, reeling my arm back and forming a jagged blade of ice over it. Rage coursed though me; I could no longer think rationally; all I desired to see was Dark Samus screaming in pain... Even if it meant giving up on Samus, I could no longer allow Dark Samus to do as he pleased. I brought my arm forward and thrust the blade with all my strength. But then, as I watched the crystalline blade plunge forward, I noticed something...
The same evil grin of Dark Samus stretched still across Samus' face, but there was also something else... A tear... There was a single tear streaming down Samus face! This sight brought me back to my senses, and just moments before the blade contacted I stopped myself.
For a moment I stood there my arm still outstretched as if my attack had been frozen. I looked into her face as the frozen blade I had created stood stagnant, only inches from it. I somehow bypassed every attribute that belonged to Dark Samus, and concentrated on the one thing that I knew was not his... I watched as the tear streamed down her face. Dark Samus apparently failed to take notice of it.
It was then that I was sure of something... Samus was not gone... I couldn't give up on her yet.
"...Is that all?" She suddenly said in a disappointed tone of voice "Just when I thought one of you had finally begun to fight seriously..."
She suddenly grabbed my arm, the blade I had created shattered as if it was glass meeting with the force of a hammer. She gripped my arm and spun around, throwing me into the ground a few feet back. Then before I could get to my feet, she stamped her foot down on my chest, pinning me to the ground. She suddenly pressed down on my chest with immense power, pushing all the breath out of me, and at the same time, causing me great pain and restricting my breathing as she plowed me into the ground. I almost wanted to call out in pain as she pressed even harder, but I had no breath to do it. She brought her arm back and curled her hand into a fist. It suddenly exploded with energy; poised and ready to jam into my flesh and kill me.
"Goodbye Rundas" She said grimly.
Her fit blazed even brighter.
"Samus...Stop" I choked out.
She chuckled, Dark Samus' influence never once faltering.
"You're calling out for help from someone with not power..." She said "It's pointless"
"She has more power then you ever will..." I said.
Suddenly a cynical look shot across Samus' face. Dark Samus wasn't very amused by my comment. She suddenly lifted her foot, and then jammed it back down with immense force
"You've brave, I'll give you that..." She suddenly said "Even when your being crushed like a bug, you still believe you can win, don't you?"
Suddenly the phazon aura swelling around Samus' fist disappeared.
"I was going to make your death quick like your allies... But perhaps you are deserving of something more"
She suddenly removed her foot. And then, not giving me a moment to retaliate, she grabbed my neck, keeping me held to the ground. I struggled against this action, but her grip only became tighter; she was crushing my neck. A laugh suddenly echoed from her.
"If your going to die, I suppose that you should know one this... I was lying" She said "The entire time we were fighting, Samus has been watching us..."
"You... Bastard" I choked out.
"She hears and sees whatever I do..." She said, a cruel smile twisting over her face "Now die... I want her to see you perish slowly and painfully"
I choked. I could barely breath, let along talk anymore.
"Well? Come on..." She said "Talk... Call out for her; beg for her to save you... Let me hear her cry out as you die without anything for her to do to protect you"
Suddenly I thought of something. I struggled to speak, but I couldn't.
"I can't hear you" She said.
I fought desperately to get one final breath. Painfully and slowly, I inhaled. And understanding that this might be last breath that I would ever take, I spoke the one thing that I could.
"Samus... You still owe me one"
Samus' eyes suddenly jumped, and her face fell from an evil grin, to a look of pure horror. For a moment she remained as she was, her hands still loosely griping my neck. Her breathing suddenly became weak and shivering, and her hands began to shake. Then, slowly, as if being forced too, Samus' hands drew away from my neck. Then, suddenly, a voice came to me... Samus' voice.
"Run...das" She said quietly in between a shivering breath.
Suddenly she let out a yelp of pain as she stumbled off of me, falling onto the ground. Taking the chance, I got up and scrambled back. Samus suddenly curled into a fetal position as more yelps and sobs escaped from her.
Breathing heavily, she rolled onto her stomach and attempted to get up, using her arms to support her. Her arms shook as if there was a weight was on her shoulders. Apparently some force was weakening her body. She suddenly slipped, falling onto her side.
She writhed and twitched on the ground as energy suddenly began to radiate around her. Random bursts of phazonic energy began to flash from her body. Once again she attempted to get up. Slowly her body rose until she was once again on her hands and knees. The aura grew more and more powerful the more she struggled. At this point the aura was so unstable it resembled a swarm of insects twisting around her body.
Then, suddenly, voices began to reach my ears.
"Stop, you idiot!" Dark Samus voice cried out "What the hell are you-"
"Get out of me..." Suddenly said a low growling female voice.
The top half of her body suddenly flexed upward as an enormous scream penetrated the vortex of phazon.
"GET OUT OF ME!"
The aura suddenly burst into power. It grew immensely as it power quickly went out of control.
Quickly, I launched myself into the air with my gliding ability, trying to get away from the torrent of energy. I had barely launched myself into the air when the aura stuck me. It felt like a raging fire against my skin. Because of the pain I lost my concentration, and fell from the air.
The blast suddenly burst again. It launched me threw the air at an incredibly high speed. I spun around in the air until the momentum of the explosion stopped carrying me.
Without the explosion carrying me, I plunged to the ground. Thinking fast, I used the last of the power I had to cover the ground in a thick snow before I struck it.
"This is going to hurt" I though to myself.
I impacted the ground hard and fast, sending the snow I had quickly created flying in all directions like a white mist. The second I hit the ground, my body fell into shock. I lye where I landed, unable to move. And for a moment I thought that I hadn't acted quickly enough...
Darkness slowly crept threw my vision, causing it to fade away. I drifted into what seemed like sleep. But then, suddenly something rung through the darkness, shocking me awake.
"RUNDAS!" a voice yelled.
My vision instantly returned to me. I jerked up from where I was lying, causing myself great pain.
"Rundas, thank God" The same voice said.
I turned around, to meet this voice. I couldn't believe what I was seeing!
"G-Ghor!?" I asked in shock "But you were-"
"I'm fine" He said "I'm operating at 40%, but that's more then enough... I'll half to get a new mech though"
He extended his hand down. I reached up and grabbed on, thankful for him helping me up.
"Impressive" Ghor said looking ahead of us "You managed to cause quite a show while I was out"
Now on my feet, I too looked ahead of us. A massive jet of blue energy was now flying wildly threw the air. On the ground were the aura was radiating, I saw a dim outline of Samus from with the chaos.
I turned back to Ghor for a moment. I glanced down at his body to see a large mark indented on his chest, and several large gashes and ruptures throughout his body. I guessed that his mech took the brunt of Dark Samus' assault.
"I'm okay too, if anyone was wondering" A sarcastic female voice suddenly said from behind us.
We turned to see Gandrayda walking up to join us; she too was injured, and now had a slight limp when she walked, but seemed fine. She quickly took notice of what was happening.
"Rundas, what the hell did you do?" She asked, catching sight of the display.
For the briefest of moments I was happy that Ghor and Gandrayda were all right, but that changed when I turned back to Samus. Energy continued to radiate around her. It seemed to push everything that got too close away; like gravity itself had been rendered useless. Rocks and trees were ripped up from the ground and held in the air for a moment before bursting into pieces and scattering like bullets in all directions.
"I asked Samus for a favor" I answered.
Suddenly the energy increased for a brief moment, only this time, we were the targets of the burst. An invisible wall of energy struck us, lifting us off our feet, and throwing us in the opposite direction. It continued to push us back until we were over 200 yards away. All of us impacted the ground, and immediately got back onto our feet and stared as the power being unleashed became more and more unstable.

(3rd Person POV)

Although a far distance away, the three bounty hunters could easily hear Samus cries as if she was standing only inches from them. Her screams tore threw them, constantly shifting between the deep, malicious tone of Dark Samus, and the familiar pained voice of Samus. The intensity of the vibrations from the screeches and the ground around them echoed to their very cores.
"GET OUT OF MY HEAD!"  Samus voice cried again.
"YOU FOOL!" Dark Samus' voice yelled.
Shots of energy randomly discharged in all directions as they fought for control. An enormous and powerful aura suddenly burst into life as an incredibly loud scream echoed continuously through the battlefield. It suddenly grew brighter, and then went critical.
The aura burst, spreading a massively powerful light that blew everything away like a bomb, as a final screech, louder then any of the others, burst forth. The ground shook at such a magnitude that it felt as it Norion was about to be split in two. The explosion rushed in all directions at an incredible speed, devouring everything it touched. Rundas, Ghor and Gandrayda, understanding that it was impossible to outrun it, held their ground and tried to guard against it. Preparing for the worst, the three closed their eyes, and awaited the inevitable. But as it hit them, something odd occurred.
Suddenly, only inches away from the three, it ended. The explosion simply faded in a split second and dissipated into a rain of falling debris. Each of the three bounty hunters slowly lowered their guard, and watched as the debris rained down to the ground.
The area the explosion had in gulfed had become devoid of life. Simply a circle of lifeless white sand covered the entire area the explosion had extended over. It was almost like a desert. Broken and mangled objects from the area rained down onto the sand, each time producing a small could of white dust that billowed in the wind for a moment, and then faded into nothing.
Suddenly Rundas jetted away from Ghor and Gandrayda, running into the desertified land as fast as he could. He had seen this before, and he knew where to go, and what he would find when he got there.
"Wha- Rundas!?" Gandrayda yelled "Where are you going!?"
No answer came; he simply continued to run. Gandrayda looked over at Ghor, and with a shrug the two continued after him. Rundas ran farther and farther into the dead land that the blast created. Ghor suddenly uttered a grunt of surprise.
"What is it?" Gandrayda asked, running beside Ghor.
"It's Samus... She's up ahead" He said "Be cautious... I cannot be sure if it's the real her or not..."
Nevertheless the three continued. Not far from them lay Samus. As the three got to her side, she was struggling to get up. Instantly all three of them could tell it was really Samus. Ghor and Rundas quickly grabbed her arms and helped her to her feet.
"Guys..." Samus said weakly.
"It's alright Samus, we got you" Rundas said.
After she was on her feet, Rundas and Ghor let go. She stumbled for a moment. Rundas took a step forward to catch her incase she fell, but Samus regained her balance and brushed Rundas away. After her balance was restored, she silently turned around and walked a few feet away from the group, looking at what had become of Norion.
She clenched her fist.
"No..." She said under her breath.
Her entire arm began to shiver.
"Samus..." Gandrayda began to say.
"It was Dark Samus wasn't it?" She suddenly asked.
A brief moment of uneasy silence passed, and then Rundas spoke.
"Yes..." He said in a regretting tone.
Her fist clenched even tighter. She exhaled a shivering breath. Tears formed in Samus eyes, and then began to flow down her face. They dripped from her eyes as she looked down, falling to the ground. Her tears instantly disappeared into the dead sand she stood on.
"Samus, it's okay; it wasn't your fault" Rundas said trying to calm Samus down "He's been subdued, we can-"
"No... He hasn't" Samus suddenly said.
"What?" Ghor asked.
"He's still there... He'll take control of me again soon... I can feel it"
She turned around, tears streaming down her face.
"We have to put an end to this..." She said shutting her eyes, and tilting her head down slightly "We have to make sure that this can't happen again... ever again"
She looked back up, and opened her eyes again.
"Everyone..." Samus pleaded, her voice trembling "Please... Kill me"

To Be Continued...

Holy cow! Damn Nova you and that guy have made a wonderful work in here.
Though DS's power seem somewhat farfetched, still I really liked the effort put into this.

Looking forward for the new chapter and hoping to see the hunters smash some Federation skulls!
